How Do I Balance (Open) My Sacral Chakra?

The following techniques help open, unblock and balance your Sacral Chakra. You can do one or more of these techniques to bring the Chakra back into balance. Experiment with each to see which techniques work best for you.

Physical Exercises:

  • As you inhale through your left nostril only by using two fingers on your right hand to close the right nostril. Breathe in from your belly and exhale slowly for 8 to 10 breaths.
  • Swimming, wading, being near water and/or listening to water
  • Yoga poses – dancer, child, twisting triangle

Meditation: As you meditate, visualize yourself on a beach listening to the water and enjoying a beautiful red orange sunset. Imagine the fiery rays emanating from within the blazing sun moving in a circular motion towards your sacral chakra. Once the rays reach your pelvic area, imagine them swirling and energizing your sacred area. Allow this cleansing orange energy to radiate throughout your lower abdomen, and into your genitals, lower back and sacrum. Learn more here.

Chanting/Tonal Sounds: The sound vibrations help the cells work together in harmony, and the Sacral Chakra harmonizes with the D note. The mantra sound for the Sacral Chakra is VAM – see this video. These techniques can be incorporated into your meditation.

Gemstones: Lie down and place gemstones on the area of the Sacral Chakra for 15 minutes to help realign the Chakra – Ruby and Carnelian for underactive Sacral Chakra, and Chrysocolla; Jade and Clear Quartz when the Sacral Chakra is overactive. Women can also use Moonstone. You can use one or many types of gemstones during this process.

Aromas, Herbs and Essential Oils: Black pepper, cinnamon, cypress, rose, ylang-ylang, clary sage, tangerine and orange can be sniffed, diffused or applied to your skin (dilute when necessary) daily. You can also burn cedar incense or sage.

Color Therapy: Focus on a lit orange candle, wear orange cloths and paint your finger and/or toe nails orange to activate your Sacral Chakra energy.

Food: Eat orange food like oranges, tangerines, mandarins, passion fruit, sweet potatoes and carrots. Other foods to eat include melons, mangos, coconuts, strawberries, honey, sunflower seeds and almonds.
